Changes to the way the Hills and Commons are managed.

Malvern Hills Trust propose to make some fundamental and very serious changes to the way they govern themselves and manage the hills.

To read more about the concerns and potential consequences we suggst you visit the MEPG web site.

We think the proposals are wrong and could lead to:

  • increased secrecy and lack of accountability

  • increased focus on generating revenue at the expense of conservation

  • granting of easements allowing large scale housing developments in inappropriate areas which could change The Malverns forever.

  • Restriction of access to the Hills, and fencing in of the Commons.

So far the Trust has wasted £130,000 of public money and now proposes to spend in excess of £800,000 + of public money on a Private Bill, with no guarantee of success.

The Upper Welland Action Group (UWAG) was formed in 2014 to oppose a planning application and raise awareness about the proposed inappropriate development of 95 houses in Upper Welland, on a greenfield site, at the bottom of the Malvern Hills, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), situated adjacent to an ancient woodland. UWAG continues to exist to raise awareness of issues that may effect the residents of Upper Welland and Malvern Wells, and if deemed appropriate oppose similar inappropriate developments. This website aims to raise awareness of the issues, as well as provide support and assistance to residents. We also support and are actively involved in other community projects.
