94 HOUSES in UPPER WELLAND

Kler Developments invited local residents to an informal consultation event on September 2nd 2014 at the village Methodist Hall. We were provided with 4 days notice to attend the event, which is when we found out a Leicestershire based developer plans to submit development plans to MHDC in the third week of September to develop the field  north of Upper Welland.....

7th Feb 2015 - Outline Planning Application Refused.

Kler Developments were not present at the event, neither was the land owner, a local farmer, Alan Hughes. More queries were raised than questions answered. It was quickly apparent, the consultation event was not designed to take account of local resident's views, but rather merely allow the developer to attempt to suggest we had been consulted.

Residents of the village agree, building on this GREENFIELD SITE is inappropriate. Such a development in AN AREA OF OUSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY which is next to an ANCIENT WOODLAND is entirely inappropriate for very many reaons. This site aims to raise awareness of the issues and will be developed to achieve that aim in the near future.

Why has the village not been properly consulted....

The proposal is contrary to local planning policies...local planning policies and procedures are in a huge state of flux....when we get chance - more details regarding these issues will be detailed.

The Upper Welland Action Group (UWAG) was formed in 2014 to oppose a planning application and raise awareness about the proposed inappropriate development of 95 houses in Upper Welland, on a greenfield site, at the bottom of the Malvern Hills, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), situated adjacent to an ancient woodland. UWAG continues to exist to raise awareness of issues that may effect the residents of Upper Welland and Malvern Wells, and if deemed appropriate oppose similar inappropriate developments. This website aims to raise awareness of the issues, as well as provide support and assistance to residents. We also support and are actively involved in other community projects.
